Title: Boomer Expo at Glenbrook Mall
What a whirl wind weekend! I took the opportunity to set a mini shop at our local shopping mall and had a GREAT response. I feel bad if I wasn't able to talk with you if you stopped and visited. There were quite a few crazy times where I wish I truly had a clone of myself. At any rate, it was so much fun! I owe my four children and my husband, as they would say BIG TIME NOW! My son who is 14 said after it was all over "Mom , did it mean alot to you that I helped?" How do you answer that but with tear drops! They stayed up late Friday night and got up early Sat morning and helped tear down on Sun evening and unload the cars. A few photos of all their hard work.
Meanwhile, back at the shop I had a great friend that held down the "fort" for the day. THANK YOU FRAN! I also had help from a friend that stopped by to visit me at the mall. She ended up talking to a few ladies about what I do at the shop. THANK YOU STACEY! Now that the busy days of this past weekend are over, I can get back to making pieces again for the shop. The grapevine is ready to cut and drag back here. So many trees are to follow with the grapevine rope that is already to send home with the customers. Lots of barnsiding signs will be next along with the custom pieces that I have orders for already! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! I'll also get to work on the site. I have so much Blossom Buckets to get on and spring items! Thanks for talking the time to read this. Wendy

Title: wow it's been awhile since my last entry
Hard to believe that Spring is here! Yipeeee, now time for all the rain. Like so many of the other small shops here, changing over the shop to Spring decor is fun and at the same time hard work. Birdhouses, birdfeeders, florals, greenhouses, wrought iron and so much more to bring out. This is my first Spring in my own brick and mortar shop so there's much to learn. I've been very busy adding for items to the website, eBay and getting the shop brought up to speed. In the beginning of May I'll be taking a part of the shop to our local mall, Glenbrook, for an Expo. Filling up a 10'x10' area should be exciting. I thought I'd take my large decorative tent in there and decorate it up like a little shop within the mall. Add a bunch of Mother's day gifts like candles, jewerly, pictures, of course Blossom Bucket items, and other things and just have fun with it. I'll have to post pictures when it's finished. In the meantime, I'll just keep working away on getting products filled in for everyone to look at. Thanks for reading, enjoy the weather where you are! Wendy

Title: Where is Spring?
Does anyone else wish that this stuff that is on the ground would just go away! I can't keep up with the weather any more. I've just decided that I'm going to ignore outside and go on with Spring in my shop!
Easter is just around the corner and I'm already ready to put all the Easter bunnies away, I won't but I want to. I want to MOVE on! I really love the spring time here in Indiana other than the rain. The flowers are always so pretty popping up all around.
I'm leaving this weekend on buying trip and I'm taking my daughter with me this time. I'm looking forward to this because she's finally old enough to actually help me rather than hinder. Just her and I and all the garden iron I buy in the van for hours. The trip really should be very productive and I'm always looking out for the new trends coming up. That's what makes this business fun, trying to figure out what's the next hot thing and adding it to so many homes around here. I love it when ladies (or men) come in here and say "I've got this piece and I need something else to make it POP!"
It seems there are always ideas flying around in here for decorating. So many of them have to do with items already in your homes. It's great to hear of an old piece getting a new life by changing it's idea of what it was intended for. For example, shutters that have been aged used as shelfs, a small childs play wagon used as a large dining room center piece, LOVE IT!
Challenge for you...take something you've got in your attic or placed in a corner out of the way and make it the focal point! Add other pieces from around your home to it or better yet, help out the small businesses in your area and look for the accent pieces needed for that new creation. Enjoy!
Talk to you soon. Wendy

Title: products coming in
Little did I know that when I ordered spring/summer items in Feb. that it all was going to come in at once! For having a small shop (400sq) and just a tad bit bigger storage area it's packed full. So many ideas floating around for the spring that I keep wishes was here already, instead of all this snow and ice. Planting pots that hang, signs, lights, dried botanicals, cute things to sit around and just about everything in between is here ready to get out. Just got finished ordering a few more very large birdhouses that you sit inside for decoration rather than use outside. Boy are they beautiful! Not sure where they are going to go when they get here, right now there's no room. No matter, I'll figure something out. Being 1 1/2 yrs into business it's interesting to see some of the trends that retail has. Many people complain about the big box stores and the quality verses the price. They wish that smaller businesses were around but then when they do find a smaller shop, people are hestitant to go in having preconceived ideas that prices are automatically high, because they are smaller. It's a little confusing to the smaller retailer. There are sooooo many things that are less expensive and better quality at smaller shops. I've heard the complaints about customer service in the big box stores, why not try a smaller shop. So many times the owners go out of their way to make sure you're happy! It's their dinner that's on the line. It's getting harder for the smaller shops to be able to compete with the big boys, but I for one have alot of fight in me!

Title: SNOW!!!
Snow, more snow, warm temps, snow, snow, warm temps and on and on. Anyone else live in Indiana? Sometimes I really wonder why I live here. Don't get me wrong I love all the changing seasons but sometimes it can be a bit much!
I've obviously just started this blog and often wonder how do I do this? I've started to read a lot of articles about blogging and there's really so much information on blogging it can be overwhelming. Do any of you have favorite areas for blogs that you like or any articles about blogs to help me get started. Use the contact me area to let me know.
As the month comes to a close I am deeply looking forward to the nice weather for many reasons. 1 - just so we can have the sun back, 2 - I can go back outside and start crafting again. I love to work with grapevine and most things natural, 3 - I'll be able to have my garden items out and looking forward to that whole new line of items, and 4 - WARMTH!
So much to think about with the changing of the seasons not to mention all the changes with the kids activities (all four of them)! Whew! It wears me out just thinking about it!
ENJOY YOUR DAY while I go take a nap.

Title: new site up
Wow what an undertaking!!! Between the holiday season in store, on the internet and two leased out spaces and trying to finish up this new site it's been a rollercoaster ride.
It's finally completed but only with a few missing pieces. I'm still working on obviously adding new products and some of my links. I've got such a variety of products now it's a little overwhelming. My shop is full of Easter, americana, everyday, candles, etc. etc. My stock room is over filling! I can barely walk in there anymore. Guess I'd better go clean it up and start listing them on the site, huh?
Weather here in Indiana hasn't really cooperated either with trying to do business. It's cold, dreary and snowy (on most days). It's really hard to be motivated when you can't get outside to finish projects or just enjoy the nice sun!
thanks for taking the time to read, time to get some work done around here! wendy
